Love live shows

(That's Shanghai)

At its core, the Zhijiang Dream Factory is a performance venue. To be
sure, we commend the diversity and frequency of live shows held here;
from Chinese theater to modern rock, the management clearly has vision
and style.

On our first visit, a sizable mixed audience was drinking, conversing
quietly and generally enjoying the excellent acoustic rock show. In stark
contrast, our weeknight follow-up was depressing: bright overhead
lighting and the sounds of set construction filled an otherwise deserted
interior. The bartender was located with some difficulty, and seemed
confused when we ordered a Long Island Iced Tea (RMB 45).

Feeling very out of place, we left halfway through our first round. ZDF
has clearly secured a loyal following for its creative, risk-taking
shows. After the curtain falls, however, there is little reason for fans
to linger.
